Why are you here?
Why are you here on earth at this time?
Here’s a hint. Life has meaning. We exist to realize and fulfill that meaning.
I was in my yard earthing and reflecting on this big question. Before I tell you the answer, go within and ask. Why am I here?
There is no random existence even though many of us have acted that way.
Everything counts and everyone has a purpose. So when you go within and ask this big question what response comes up for you?
I got two answers that apply to us all.
- I’m here to experience something deeply personal and profound that benefits the evolution of my soul/consciousness.
- I’m also here to make a valuable contribution to humanity.
The reason we exist is to find the intersection of those two purposes. What else could it be?
We’re all connected. Our life experiences exist in service to one another and for that service to be most valuable to humanity we must actualize for the highest good of all.
Actualization is going for one’s greatest potential. Note, I did not say reaching one’s greatest potential.
That’s the beauty of sacred intentions. We only need to be consciously and actively pursuing them to receive the energy of them and that energy blesses us right from the start.
If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life. What a man can be, he must be. This need we call self-actualization. ~ Abraham Maslow
All true, but Maslow did us a disservice by stating that all lessor needs must be fulfilled before we begin actualizing. He positions actualization as an objective so lofty that most never even consider it.
What if instead you could begin the journey of actualizing now, regardless of your life progress? Might you be willing to start actualizing and use that glorious energy to also uplift the fulfillment of lesser needs?
Fulfilling your purpose is being in action.
So are you in the midst of making your greatest possible contribution to humanity? If you are then it’s likely that you’re also fulfilling your personal purpose. But if you aren’t, then why are you pursuing lesser goals?
Hopefully you aren’t going by what, They say.
Collective consciousness (which is always more limited than individual awareness) is not where we ought to source our wisdom. Generally society pressures fitting in over standing out. Groupthink does a great job of scaring us into not following our own intuitive wisdom.
We fear to know the fearsome and unsavory aspects of ourselves, but we fear even more to know the godlike in ourselves. ~ Abraham Maslow
The godlike qualities he speaks of are within us all and they express themselves as one’s Higher Self.
I understand. Not everyone is ready to go there. But maybe by reading this you’ll reconsider. It takes courage to consider the possibility that you can live a more fulfilling life. But you have that courage.
For now if not actively pursuing such a life at least consider it. Your heart, your brilliance within, your Higher Self will not lie to you. Go ahead and ask your higher self. Do I have what it takes?
You might say that you’re not yet ready. But what determines readiness if it’s not willingness?
I urge you, don’t ignore this call to actualize. Avoidance only increases resistance that leads to greater suffering.
Actualizing is simply the most empowering and enlightening frame from which to view unrealized potential.
Most people live, whether physically, intellectually, or morally, in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use of a very small portion of their possible consciousness, and of their soul’s resources in general, much like a man who, out of his whole bodily organism, should get into a habit of using and moving only his little finger. Great emergencies and crises show us how much greater our vital resources are than we had supposed. ~ William James
Where to start? James tells us. Begin at the point of your greatest crisis. If you haven’t yet hit bottom you can still start where you suffer the most. Avoid that life area at your peril.
I avoided my physical well-being so that life had no choice but to give me the awakening of cancer and what a blessing it’s been. It gave me a forced focus to actualize my physical being. Some of us are just stubborn.
I do know that your greatest opportunity to actualize is found within one of life’s three grand desires. Which are: Robust Health, Unconditional Romantic Love and Purposeful Vocation.
They’re so glorious that we have no choice but to be our Higher Self in the pursuit of them. Those of us in our later years have an advantage. But you don’t have to be an elder to use the impetus of spiritual urgency.
Spiritual urgency is the sacred urge within to actualize your most meaningful intention now. Do so and what’s urgent and important become one.
Why are you here? You’re here to actualize. You’re here to realize your potential. What else could it be?
